Pay: £20 - £24 per hour (during trial)
Type: Temp - Perm
Hours: 30 Hours Per Week
Start date: September 2026
Our client is a friendly and welcoming primary school in Taunton seeking a dedicated School Caretaker to join their team and play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented learning environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
The role is 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, working on an annualised hours contract. This means there may be periods during the year where additional hours are required, particularly during school holidays or busy maintenance periods, while you will continue to receive the same monthly salary throughout the year.
As the School Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and upkeep of the school site, ensuring the buildings and grounds are safe, clean and well maintained. Duties will include carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs, undertaking regular health and safety checks, liaising with contractors when required, and ensuring compliance with relevant site procedures. The role may also involve opening and locking the school, responding to alarm call-outs where necessary, and supporting school events outside of normal working hours.
Flexibility is important, as you may occasionally be required to provide additional cover or support during busy periods. Access to your own vehicle is desirable.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
