Carpenter – IKEA Reading
IKEA Reading are looking to welcome a Carpenter to the team.
A Carpenter transforms raw wood into the backbone of the showroom—building walls, platforms, and raised floors, and cutting and shaping materials like MDF, plywood, and panels to bring each space to life.

What We Offer
- Start Date: August
- Salary: £29,577 per annum (competitive, negotiable depending on experience)
- Contract: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Shift Timings: Typically 06:00–15:30* (designed for early morning completion of constructions before customer arrival)

Requirements
Essential
- Qualification: NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Wood Occupations / Site Carpentry or equivalent (e.g., HND/NVQ in Carpentry)
- Experience: Commercial or retail carpentry (preferably exhibition installations or retail fit-out), with attention to detail
- Flooring/Tiling: Desirable (but not essential)
Personality & Skills
- Passion for design & home furnishings – enthusiasm to inspire and develop creative solutions
- Organisation & planning – prioritise workloads and meet deadlines efficiently
- Communication – explain technical concepts clearly (verbal + visual interpretation)
- Health & Safety Compliance – must be 18+ years old
Key Responsibilities
- Execute detailed work briefs for store layouts:
- Creating wall constructions, podiums, fixtures, raised floors
- Installing complex furniture displays (painting, assembly included)
- Material & resource planning to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a showroom-ն attractive, customer-focused environment
- Minimise disruption on the shop floor while completing tasks to high standards
- Safety-first mentality – proactively address and address risks to ensure a secure workspace
