Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer

Location: Erith, Kent (DA17 6JG)
Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary (Ongoing for the Academic Year)
Start Date: Late August
Pay Rate: £22.00 per hour (PAYE) or £27.00 per hour (Self-Employed)

We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer to join a Further Education college in DA17 6JG for the upcoming academic year.

This is a full-time, temporary ongoing position starting in late August. You will be delivering engaging and practical lessons to students aged 16–18 across a range of Carpentry & Joinery qualifications, from Level 1 upwards. Working closely with the Curriculum Manager, you will play an important role in supporting student achievement while contributing to the continued development of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Carpentry & Joinery lessons to students aged 16–18.
  • Teach learners across Level 1 and higher Carpentry & Joinery programmes.
  • Prepare engaging lesson plans and learning materials.
  • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records.
  • Support learners in achieving their qualifications and career goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the Curriculum Manager and wider department to develop and enhance the curriculum.
  • Ensure teaching meets awarding body and college quality standards.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months' experience teaching 16–18-year-olds in a similar Further Education role within the UK.
  • Industry experience in Carpentry & Joinery and/or proven teaching experience.
  • A recognised Further Education teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
  • Minimum Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE or equivalent).
  • Strong communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting learners and delivering high-quality vocational education.
