Company Description

Warp & Weft (UK) Limited is a textile flooring specialist that integrates design consultancy, warehousing, and a specialist workshop to deliver high-quality flooring solutions. The company’s in-house installation team ensures a seamless journey from initial specification through to final completion. Role Description

This is a Self-Employed/Subcontract Opportunity role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare floors, measure areas, and cut materials to ensure accurate and efficient installation of textile flooring products.
  • Install carpets and other flooring to specification, using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Ensure work meets safety and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with the design and workshop teams.
  • Load and unload materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.
  • Interact professionally with clients on-site.
  • Address any installation issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of installation practices.

Qualifications

  • Strong practical skills in carpet and textile flooring installation, including measuring, cutting, fitting, and finishing.
  • Ability to read and interpret floor plans, specifications, and installation instructions.
  • Knowledge of flooring materials, adhesives, underlays, and appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Understanding of health and safety practices, including manual handling and safe use of tools and machinery. Own professional tools preferred.
  • Good problem-solving skills to address on-site challenges and adapt installations to varying conditions.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to work closely with the in-house installation, design, and workshop teams.
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to delivering precise, high-quality workmanship.
  • Physical fitness to perform manual tasks, stand for extended periods, and move materials as required. A 2-man team necessity.
  • Previous experience, with both modern and traditional installation methods in carpet or flooring installation is strongly preferred; vocational training or trade certification is an asset.
  • Experience with hand sewing carpets and borders.
  • Portfolio of recent works (photos and references).
  • NVQ qualification (please state level, if applicable).
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • DBS/CBS clearance.
  • Valid UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to different client sites as needed. Own vehicle preferred.
  • Available for night work and weekend work, occasional.
