Cartographic Business Development Manager

Senior Geospatial Sales Manager – Government & Commercial Sector

Location: Glasgow Salary: £47,500 – £52,500 per annum Application Deadline: 5 July 2026 Department: Sales – Collins Maps & Atlases (HarperCollins)

About the Role

An exciting senior commercial sales opportunity to drive revenue growth for Collins Bartholomew and A-Z, HarpersCollins’ leading cartographic and geospatial brand.

This enterprise-focused position will focus on delivering high-value sales in the government, defence, media, education, technology, and telcoms sectors. You’ll work closely with Business Development and cartography teams to secure revenue opportunities, foster long-term client relationships, and support the expansion of Collins’ digital cartography strategy.

As part of the Collins Education & Reference team, your role bridges commercial vision with technical expertise, influencing strategic decisions and ensuring Collins remains a trusted name in geospatial data and custom mapping.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Account Leadership

  • Drive net-new revenue through targeted prospecting, client engagement, and pipeline development, focusing on government, defence, media, education, technology, and telecoms sectors.
  • Manage end-to-end sales cycles, from cold outreach to contract execution, including tender responsiveness and proposal management.
  • Represent Collins Bartholomew as the commercial voice for geospatial data, marketing The Times Atlas of the World, reference map products, and custom enterprise solutions.
  • Deliver hands-on sales support for clients, including training, technical liaison with producers, and resolving issues relating to data supply.

Strategic & Commercial Alignment

  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning, ensuring geospatial product investments align with market needs and revenue growth.
  • Exhibit competitor benchmarking, monitor emerging industry trends (e.g., from IMIA, DGI, OS), and feed insights into decision-making.
  • Actively research pre-tender opportunities, exercising sound commercial judgment to assess wallet-spend, competitive positioning, and business fit.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
