This is a Case Administrator position within the Probation Service, playing a vital support role in probation teams to keep the public safe while helping offenders turn their lives around.
About This Role
You’ll join a supportive team in the Probation Service, helping manage offenders, ensuring public safety, and offering opportunities for positive change. As a Case Administrator, you’ll:
- Support probation staff by maintaining efficient processes and system integrity.
- Collate and prepare probation information for case files.
- Handle inquiries from colleagues, external agencies, and individuals on probation.
- Work across varied settings, including offices, courts, prisons, and structured programmes.
Successful applicants may be based across the Probation Service region, with allocations determined by business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Ensure processes run efficiently and are maintained properly.
- Prepare and organise probation information for case management.
- Provide strong communication skills in handling demands from colleagues, agencies, and offenders.
- Maintain accurate records and ensureுப்amily compliance with Probation Service policies.

- Accredited Programmes (such as drug treatment, education recovery courses).
- Attendance Centres.
- Contracts & Community Payback (unpaid work).
- Public Protection (both in custody and in the community).
- Homeless Prevention Taskforce and Personality Disorder Projects.
Salary & Career Progression
Starting Remuneration
- £24,645 (pro-rata for part-time roles).
- Starting on the minimum of the Civil Service pay band.
Pay Progression
- Annual salary increases through the Competency Based Framework (CBF).
- Regular pay band adjustments in line with Civil Service pay guidance.

Eligibility Requirements
Critical Entry Criteria
Right to Work in the UK
- Mandatory legal requirement.
- To remain eligible, you must conform to Immigration Rules applicable to the Civil Service.
Visa Regulations
- Skilled Worker Visa Restriction: as of July 22, 2025, candidates cannot hold a new Skilled Worker Visa for this role.
- Existing Holders Only: If you previously held a Skilled Worker Visa with continuous residence before July 22, 2025, your eligibility will be assessed under transitional privileges.
- Otherwise, right-to-workability must be established through alternative routes (settlement, exceptional circumstances).

Security Requirements
- Must pass criminal record checks and personnel security clearance.
Accepted Nationality Groups
Applicants must meet at least one of the following:
- UK nationals
- Nationals of the Republic of Ireland
- Commonwealth citizens with UK work rights
- EU, EEA, Scandis (Norway/Iceland/Liechtenstein), Swiss nationals, or their family members who hold:
- Settled Status under EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS)
- Pre-Settled Status (eligibility validated)
- Residents with conditional or indefinite leave, eligible to apply for EUSS by Dec 31, 2020.
- Turkish nationals under related reciprocity agreements.
