Location: Whitehall, London (Hybrid – 1–3 days per week onsite)
Contract Details:
- Rate: £350 per day (Umbrella)
- Contract End: Until 31 March 2027
- IR35: Inside IR35
- Clearance: Active SC Clearance (no restrictions) required
We are seeking an experienced Casework Team Leader to join a high-profile Government programme supporting the delivery of complex, policy-led casework in a fast-paced operational environment.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in Government operational delivery, capable of confidently leading teams, making evidence-based decisions, and fostering healthy relationships across all levels of stakeholders.
The Role
As a Casework Team Leader, you will lead a team focused on delivering high-quality casework, ensuring decisions align with Government policy—consistent, fair, and well-reasoned. You will provide leadership, coaching, and operational oversight while driving improved efficiencies and supporting organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a Casework Team, providing line management to HEO Civil Servants and task management for contingent workers.
- Make autonomous, evidence-based decisions compliant with Government policy and guidance.
- Analyse complex evidence, requesting further clarity as necessary to inform decision-making.
- Handle sensitive personal data while adhering to data protection regulations.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders across Government.
- Provide advisory and operational guidance to support strategy and departmental priorities.
- Monitor and manage casework data, performance metrics, and reporting to ensure effective resource planning.
- Ensure compliance with governance processes and procedural standards.
- Depuise for senior managers when required.
- Coach, mentor, and support career development for casework staff.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Active SC Clearance with no restrictions.
- Sole UK National eligibility.
- Proven experience within Central Government or work closely aligned to it, utilised in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strength in team leadership, mentoring, and prioritisation, with a focus on team wellbeing and skill development.
- Strong evidence-based decision-making underpinned by Government policy expertise.
- Direct experience of rules-based casework and its operational delivery.
- Knowledge of working within a policy-driven environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management and clear communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including intermediate Excel capabilities.

- Clearance: Active SC Clearance mandatory.

- Working Arrangement: Hybrid model—close to 1–3 days Onsite in Whitehall, dependent on operational needs.
- No Expenses Paid: Travel/not subsistence expenses coverable.
