Caseworker – Personalised Education Service
Salary: BR9 – £32,512 – £34,281 Hours: Monday–Friday, 36 hours/week (Term Time Only – 39 weeks) Location: Hybrid working:
- 2 days at either:
- St Paul’s Cray Tuition Centre (The Link, Midfield Way)
- Bromley Civic Centre (additional days during exam periods)
- Remaining time working from home/site visits (including home visits).
About the Service
The Personalised Education Service provides short-term, interim education for children aged 5–16 who are unable to attend mainstream school due to:
- Medical needs (physical/mental health conditions)
- Waiting for a suitable Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) placement
Our team delivers bespoke tuition across diverse settings, including:
- Orpington centre
- Online (via Microsoft Teams)
- Libraries and community venues
- Children’s homes (where medically required)
We specialise in working with children who experience:
- SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities),
- SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs),
- or complex medical conditions alongside autism, ADHD.
Team workload: ✔ Collaboratively mitigate barriers to education ✔ Support families through statutory case reviews ✔ Partner with health, social care, local schools This role is rewarding: think driving localised change for children who’ve faced educational roadblocks.
The Role: Caseworker – Key Responsibilities

- Manage a diverse caseload of children and young people, adapting flexibly to evolving needs.
- Identify root causes of education gaps and co-produce solution-focused action plans with families.
- Lead multi-agency collaboration:
- Act as Lead Professional for EHCP assessments.
- Chair or attend trimonthly reviews.

- Foster relationships across schools, parents, health/social care partners.
- Monitor provision and progress:
- Offer evidence-based support.
- Constructively challenge strategies alongside professionals.
- Prepare high-quality reports and propose recommendations to decision panels.

What We’re Looking for
Experience and Skills
- Proven experience with:
- Children and young people (CYP) within educational, therapeutic, or child welfare settings.
- Understanding of SEND, SEMH, and safeguarding frameworks.
- Key strengths:
- Expert communicator: Relaying complex information clearly with families/cols.
- Can think critically, challenge assumptions, and advocate for "child voice".
- Thrives in fast-paced environments whilst managing deadline-sensitive responsibilities.
Soft Essentials
- Fully attuned to child-centred education, offering trauma-informed support.
- eagerness to actively campaign for fair service improvements.
- manifested in proactive, collaborative, structured reflection.
Hard Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and motorised access to a car (between-home visits/day trips).
- Physical capacity for regular travel across borough sites and home visits.
