Cash & Banking Administrator
Location: Corporate Office, Bedford Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Overview
The Cash & Banking Administrator is responsible for maintaining the organisation’s cash book, ensuring all cash receipts are posted accurately and allocated in a timely manner.
Reporting into the Finance team, this role plays a key part in managing daily banking activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting effective cash flow management.
The successful candidate will have experience in cash reconciliations within a finance environment and a sound understanding of accounting principles relating to cash management. They will demonstrate:

Field of Activity & Responsibly
Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile the cash book and general ledger.
- Prepare and process cash receipts, ensuring timely and accurate allocation.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations while investigating discrepancies.
- Coordinate cash forecasting and liaise with departments to ensure efficient cash flow allocation.
- Monitor and report on cash flows, identifying irregularities or potential financial risks.
- Process and track cheque payments and card transactions.
- Ensure compliance with cash handling policies and internal financial controls.
- Maintain records and financial documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Prepare financial reports and summaries as required.
- Liaise with financial software systems (e.g., banking portals, ERP systems) to ensure smooth transaction processing.
- Support the finance team in investigating and resolving cash discrepancies or variances.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience (minimum 2+ years) in a finance, cash, banking, or accounts receivable role.
- Strong reconciliation skills (bank statement reconciliations, inter-departmental reconciliations).
- Solid understanding of cash management principles and accounting methodologies.
- Proficient knowledge of accounting software, ERP systems, and spreadsheets (Excel).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in operating within a large or multi-site organisation.
- Knowledge of banking controls and security protocols for cash handling.
