Role Overview
This experienced colleague-level role sits within the Regulatory Oversight pillar and provides day-to-day evidence-based oversight and challenge of BPO-delivered CASS activities and related controls, and support for the Regulatory lead on other regulations.
To support independent oversight of outsourced CASS activities, ensuring reconciliations, controls and governance outputs are accurate, complete and evidenced, and that issues are escalated and remediated.
Reporting Lines
Reports to: Head of Regulatory & CASS Oversight (BPO Oversight)
Key stakeholders:
- BPO operational and control teams
- Compliance/Risk/Audit stakeholders supporting client assets oversight
Key Work Level Accountabilities
- Support oversight of CASS operational, reporting and control activities performed by the BPO provider
- Ensure outsourced outputs are accurate, complete and compliant with internal standards and regulatory expectations
- Maintain robust evidence of oversight and control validation for audit and regulatory purposes
- Support SMF16/24 accountabilities by providing evidence of effective oversight, risk management and control assurance
- Identify, escalate and support resolution of risks, issues and control weaknesses

Key Responsibilities for this Role
Operational oversight & exception challenge
- Review and challenge reconciliation outputs and exception management
- Oversee mandate controls and relevant client asset processes
- Review safeguarding of physical assets and associated evidence
Reporting, governance & audit readiness
- Support regulatory reporting inputs and attestations within the CASS framework (as directed)
- Prepare MI and evidence packs for governance forums and audits
- Track actions, issues and remediation to completion
Risk, breach & complaint inputs
- Support oversight of CASS breaches and incidents; maintain logs and evidence
- Support oversight of CASS-related complaints inputs and escalation routes
- Support root cause analysis and remediation tracking
Customer, conduct & Consumer Duty expectations
- Consider customer impact when reviewing controls and BPO outputs; escalate risks to customer outcomes or regulatory compliance
- Support delivery of good customer outcomes by identifying control weaknesses early
SMCR / accountability expectations
- Supports SMF16/24 accountabilities through evidenced oversight and timely escalation.
Evidence & assurance expectations
- Maintain documented reviews, challenge logs and approvals with a clear audit trail
- Maintain evidence packs for key controls (exceptions, remediation, governance outputs)
- Support periodic control testing/assurance activities as required
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of CASS/client assets environment, reconciliations and control frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and confidence in challenging third-party outputs.
- Experience in operations, controls, risk or oversight within financial services is desirable.
