Cast Finish Operative (Straightener)

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £13.51 per hour + Shift Allowance

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Shifts: Shift working required (pattern discussed at interview)

Additional shift allowances depending on working pattern.

Days only – No shift allowance Days & Nights – 12.5% shift allowance Days, Afternoons & Nights – 17% shift allowance Permanent Nights – 25% shift allowance

About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cast Finish Operative (Straightener) to join our clients Cast Finish Department. This hands-on role is responsible for straightening, buffing and grinding cast components to achieve required dimensional specifications while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Straighten, buff and grind cast components to specification. Use a variety of manufacturing techniques and equipment to produce high-quality products. Complete production and timekeeping documentation accurately. Follow Health & Safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment. Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the work area. Work collaboratively to achieve production targets and output requirements. Ensure company quality standards and procedures are understood and followed. Demonstrate flexibility to support other departments when required.

Training & Development

Full training will be provided across departmental processes, including:

Straightening – use of hammers, presses, calipers, DTIs and shadowgraph equipment. Mount Point Operations – grinding guns, linishing belts, cut-off machines and hand blasting equipment. Final Inspection – visual inspection, water testing, gauge checks, hardness checks and light testing.
