About the Role
Working Pattern
Days of Working: This is a mobile, multi-site role, requiring flexibility to support operational needs across Nottingham. Shift patterns will vary depending on site requirements, with most shifts taking place Monday to Friday during court operating hours.
As a Casual Court & Tribunal Security Officer, you will maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment across court and tribunal buildings in a defined area. You’ll support access control, incident response, and ensure professional treatment for all visitors, staff, and service users.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will include, but is not limited to:
- Providing a professional, welcoming and customer-focused service to all court users
- Controlling access to buildings while adhering to security procedures
- Operating security equipment, including CCTV, x-ray machines, and handheld metal detectors
- Conducting bag checks and searches in line with site procedures
- Monitoring public and restricted areas with regular communication to control points
- Patrolling court buildings and satellite locations as required
- Responding promptly and effectively to alarms, incidents, and security concerns
- Recording and reporting incidents and activities accurately
- Ensuring safe and secure movement of people within the building
- Maintaining high standards of professionalism and compliance at all times

Requirements
Essentials
Must possess:
- The Right to Work in the UK and the ability to pass an enhanced DBS check and BS7858 security clearance
- A valid SIA Licence and relevant security experience
- A full UK driving licence and your own vehicle (for site travel)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Professional, reliable, and detail-focused approach
- Comprehensive knowledge of security procedures and health & safety
- Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in challenging situations
- Willingness to travel between multiple sites within the defined area
Desirable (Preferred)
- Experience working in public sector or regulated environments
- Familiarity with security systems, such as CCTV and screening equipment
