Casual Court & Tribunal Security Officer

Casual Court & Tribunal Security Officer – Southampton (Multi-Site)

About The Role

This is a mobile, multi-site role requiring flexibility to support operational needs across Southampton. Shift patterns will vary depending on site requirements, primarily running Monday to Friday during court operating hours.

As a Casual Court & Tribunal Security Officer, you will:

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across court and tribunal buildings.
  • Support site teams in access control, monitoring activity, and incident response.
  • Ensure a professional and respectful approach to all visitors, staff, and service users.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Providing a professional, welcoming, and customer-focused service to all court users
  • Controlling building access and enforcing security procedures
  • Operating security equipment including:
    • CCTV
    • X-ray machines
    • Handheld metal detectors
  • Conducting security searches (bag checks, etc.) as per site procedures
  • Monitoring public and restricted areas, maintaining communication with control points
  • Patrolling court buildings and satellite locations as required
  • Promptly responding to alarms, incidents, and security concerns
  • Accurately recording and reporting all incidents and activities
  • Supporting the safe movement of people within the building
  • Maintaining high standards of professionalism and compliance at all times

Requirements

Must Have: ✔ Right to Work in the UK ✔ Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check ✔ BS7858 security clearance ✔ Valid SIA Licence and relevant security experience ✔ Full UK driving licence (use of own vehicle preferred*) ✔ Strong communication and customer service skills ✔ Professional, reliable, and detail-focused approach ✔ Good understanding of security procedures and health & safety ✔ Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in challenging situations ✔ Willingness to travel between multi-site locations

Desirable:

  • Experience in public sector or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with security systems (CCTV, screening equipment)
