Casual Court & Tribunal Security Officer
About The Role
Working Arrangements: This is a mobile, multi-site role requiring flexibility to support operational needs across varying shift patterns by site.
As a Casual Court & Tribunal Security Officer, you’ll maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across multiple court and tribunal buildings in a defined area. Your responsibilities include supporting site teams with access control, incident response, and ensuring professional conduct for visitors, staff, and service users.
Operating primarily Monday to Friday within court operating hours, this role offers flexible shift patterns to accommodate operational needs such as sickness and absence. You will travel between locations to provide security cover where required.
Key Responsibilities (examples)
- Provide a professional, welcoming, and customer-focused service to all court users.
- Control access to buildings while adhering to security procedures.
- Operate security equipment including CCTV, x-ray machines, and metal detectors.
- Conduct searches (e.g., bag checks) in line with site procedures.
- Monitor public and restricted areas with regular communication to control points.
- Patrol buildings and satellite locations as required.
- Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, and security concerns.
- Accurately record and report all incidents and activities.
- Assist with the safe movement of individuals within the facility.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism and compliance.

Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Valid Right to Work in the UK.
- Ability to pass an enhanced DBS and BS7858 security clearance.
- A valid SIA Licence and relevant security experience.
- Full UK driving licence with use of your own vehicle* (required for multi-site travel).
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Professional, reliable, and detail-oriented approach.
- Knowledge of security procedures and health & safety practices.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
- Willingness to travel between assigned sites.
Desirable
- Experience in public sector or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with security systems such as CCTV and screening equipment.
