About the Role

Located within the magnificent Stanbrook Abbey Hotel—a former Benedictine monastery converted into a one-of-a-kind luxury retreat—this role blends history, elegance, and exceptional hospitality. The property features:

  • 70 individually designed bedrooms
  • A fine dining restaurant
  • Inspiring event spaces
  • Beautifully landscaped grounds

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation & Presentation: Ensure food and beverage service areas meet Hand Picked Hotels’ high standards, with flawless presentation and cleanliness.
  • Menu Knowledge: Maintain a strong grasp of menu items, ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods—able to offer engaging descriptions and personalised recommendations tailored to guest preferences.
  • Team Collaboration: Work enthusiastically alongside your team to meet departmental goals, embracing flexibility to cover varied roles in the hotel.
  • Wine & Drink Expertise:
    • Basic knowledge of wine lists and stock.
    • Understanding of food/wine pairings, grape varieties, and flavour profiles.
  • Guest Focus: Use emotional intelligence to anticipate guest needs, ensuring a Hand Picked experience—exceptional, personalised, and memorable.

Requirements

You’ll excel in this role if you:

  • Have current hands-on experience in food/beverage service within a luxury hotel, restaurant, or high-standard hospitality setting.
  • Bring enthusiasm and willingness to take on responsibility as the role evolves.
  • Adopt a flexible, proactive mindset, ready to assist across the hotel as demands shift.
  • Can demonstrate a commitment to Hand Picked Hotels’ DNA of warmth, detail, and anticipation, showing how you’d exceed expectations at every guest interaction—delivering impressions worth repeating.
  • Are organized, calm under pressure, and thrive in a team environment.
