Location: Michael Smy Funeral Directors, Ipswich | Job Type: Casual Salary: £13.40 per hour
We’re seeking compassionate, empathetic individuals to join our casual team, supporting families during funeral services and behind the scenes. This flexible opportunity is perfect for those who want to make a meaningful difference while balancing other commitments.
The Role
You’ll be part of our team, ensuring every service is conducted with dignity and respect. Ideal for individuals seeking occasional but impactful work, particularly during busy periods or when extra ceremonial support is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with funeral services, including:
- Bearing coffins
- Setting up venues
- Supporting mourners with dignity
- Operating specialist vehicles, including hearses and limousines (driving required)
- Representing Dignity Funerals with professionalism and empathy
- Providing respectful, discreet support to families during services
- Maintaining ceremonial standards in appearance, conduct, and service delivery
About You
We’re looking for individuals who:
- Hold a Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and professionalism
- Understand the importance of discretion and presentation
- Are physically capable of manual handling tasks (e.g., lifting, carrying)
- Are reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours (short-notice availability)
- Are comfortable with direct contact with the deceased (training provided)
