Location: Surrey & Sussex Crematorium Job Type: 0-Hour Contract Salary: £13.12 per hour
About the Role
Are you passionate about creating beautifully maintained outdoor spaces that offer peace, dignity, and reflection? We are seeking a dedicated Groundsperson to join our team at Surrey & Sussex Crematorium, where you will play a vital role in maintaining our crematorium grounds and memorial areas to the highest standards.
At CMG, we believe our grounds should provide a serene and respectful environment for families to reflect and remember. As a Groundsperson, you will help maintain these meaningful spaces with care, ensuring a dignified and welcoming setting for all visitors.
The Role
As a Groundsperson, you will be responsible for ensuring the crematorium grounds, gardens, and memorial areas are maintained to a high standard. You will work as part of a team, delivering exceptional care and presentation across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out seasonal gardening and landscaping, including:
- Mowing
- Weeding
- Pruning
- Planting
- Hedge cutting
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of:
- Paths
- Lawns
- Memorial plots
- Landscaped areas
- Conduct routine checks and light maintenance of grounds equipment
- Support with:
- Leaf clearance
- Snow and ice control
- Seasonal planting displays
- Maintain memorial areas with care and attention to detail
- Assist families with basic memorial enquiries when required
- Work collaboratively with the site team, supporting other duties as needed
- Follow health and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment

About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience in groundskeeping, horticulture, or outdoor maintenance.
- Is physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Takes pride in maintaining a clean and well-presented environment.
- Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively.
- Understands the sensitivity of working in a memorial setting.
- Has a driving licence (desirable).
