Description:

Casual Hours/ Bank / Children's Residential Homes

Playing a vital role in improving the lives of young people in Leicester. Children and Young People are at the heart of the work that we do. We have residential homes across the city which offer guidance and support to young people who are in the care of the Local Authority.

Your day will vary from helping to cook the tea, supporting with homework, or playing games in the garden to attending meetings, finishing a report, addressing challenging behaviour or helping a young person stay in touch with their family and friends. A highly rewarding role that can be challenging at times, you'll be compassionate, self-motivated, and passionate about making a difference.

Based at one of our children’s homes in the suburbs of the city, you'll work in a team of 20 to 30 staff offering care, guidance and support to children and young people who are in the care of the Local Authority. We are a growing service and are expanding from 7 to 8 homes over the next year and we are looking for staff to support us with both our current homes and our upcoming projects.

Using life skills, you'll have the opportunity to make a huge difference within a young person’s life. Helping them to overcome any difficulties or disadvantages they may face – allowing them to strengthen their future. You'll form bonds with a variety of young people, some of whom may require higher levels of supervision. You'll support young people to have their voice heard in all aspects of their lives by actively encouraging them to connect with the communities around them, whilst helping them to keep their independence. Working jointly with other individuals, agencies, and community resources, you'll provide a holistic approach to young people and their families.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
