The Durham University Student Experience
The Durham University Student Experience are currently looking to recruit a number of sports coaches for the 2026/2027 academic year.
We’re building a coaching team with strengths across multiple sports, and we’re open to coaches from any sporting background. Whether you specialise in team sports, individual performance, we’re interested in the experience and passion you bring. If you’re committed to helping people grow through sport, you’ll fit right in.
Job hours and work pattern will be directly agreed with the Hiring Manager.

Role
Responsibilities
Sports Coach (Student Experience)
Casual Grade 4
Under instruction and following appropriate training:
Get help with your application
Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
- Deliver coaching sessions to student athletes / teams to improve their performance
- Evaluate performance and provide suitable feedback
- Assess strengths and weaknesses in the student athlete’s/team’s performance and identifying areas for further development
- Liaise with the relevant hiring manager to co-ordinate support service provision for individual athletes, clubs and teams
- Ensure that student athletes train and perform in line with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Where required, play for the Durham team in sport of expertise, as directed by the relevant head coach.
