Casualty Team – Fraud Paralegal Role
The Casualty team at Weightmans offers a specialist service in defending public liability (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims across the private and public sectors. Our fraud team is part of this wider Casualty service, which includes expert defendant litigation support, nationally.
Role: Fraud Paralegal (Manchester)
About the Role
We are now recruiting for a Paralegal to join our Casualty Fraud team based in Manchester.
You’ll work within a dedicated team that:
- Takes direct instruction from insureds and insurers
- Uses a fraud identification system to handle internal referrals and advisory cases
- Serves a broad client base across commercial, public sector, and insurance industries nationwide

Responsibilities
As a Paralegal, your key duties will include assisting fee earners with:
- General case management (PI including EL, PL, and Highways; housing disrepair; property damage)
- Legal research
- Drafting witness statements and reports for clients
- Preparation for court hearings
- Supporting fee earners at client meetings and court hearings
- Handling instructions to Counsel and experts
- Prompt, accurate responses to:
- Client correspondence
- Telephone enquiries (with/without supervision)
- Reviewing records
- Supporting business development activities

Key performance expectations:
- Complete MI (management information) procedures as required
- Achieve set financial targets and chargeable hours
- Adhere to deadlines, SLAs (service level agreements), quality measures, and KPIs (key performance indicators)
- Comply with relevant policies and procedures
This role is flexible and may require occasional tasks beyond the core responsibilities.
