Associate – Catastrophic Injury – Birmingham | Manchester | Bristol

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate to join a highly regarded Catastrophic Injury team in either Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol, working on a broad range of complex and high-value personal injury claims.

Working alongside experienced Partners and senior lawyers, you will manage and assist with a varied caseload, including catastrophic injury, brain and spinal injury, motor, employer's liability (EL), public liability (PL), chronic pain, and sports-related concussion claims. The role involves both pre-litigation and litigated matters, with some cases attracting national media attention.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise within a supportive and collaborative team, handling challenging, high-profile work for a diverse client base that includes major insurers and corporate organisations.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise within a supportive and collaborative team, handling challenging, high-profile work for a diverse client base that includes major insurers and corporate organisations developments.

  • Manage and assist with a caseload of complex catastrophic injury claims.
  • Handle both litigated and pre-litigation matters.
  • Draft legal documents, review evidence, and support case strategy.
  • Liaise with clients, counsel, experts, insurers, and other stakeholders.
  • Negotiate settlements where appropriate.
  • Attend client meetings and contribute to business development activities.
  • Work closely with Partners and senior colleagues on high-value and sensitive cases.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years' PQE as a UK Qualified Solicitor or be CILEX qualified with relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in catastrophic injury defence litigation.
  • Strong litigation, negotiation, and case management skills.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a team.
