About IPSD (Industrial Power Systems Division)
Caterpillar’s IPSD designs, tests, and manufactures Cat® and Perkins engines (0.5 to 18L) for global applications, including:
- Marine
- Petroleum
- Industrial equipment
- Electric generators
- Locomotives

Job Summary
You’ll provide category procurement expertise within the European Engine Castings Procurement team, leveraging Caterpillar’s QCLDM framework (Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, Management) to deliver strategic value across business units.

What You Will Do
- Develop and execute category strategy, policies, sourcing catalogs, and special procurement programs.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, inventory reduction, and quality improvements, while assessing risks and business proposals.
- Act as a key liaison between the organization and suppliers, balancing production demands with supplier capabilities.
- Maintain supplier relationships, track performance (timeliness and quality), and collaborate with internal stakeholders.
What You Need
Knowledge & Competencies
- Data Analytics – Extract insights from data to support procurement decisions (e.g., cost-trend analysis, supplier performance metrics).
- Effective Communications – Influence stakeholders through clear, structured, and solution-oriented communication.
- Interpersonal Relationships – Work collaboratively with diverse teams and external partners.
- Negotiating – Strong ability to negotiate contracts and procurement agreements favorably.
- Contract Management & Administration – Understand contractual obligations and manage multi-vendor agreements.
- Purchasing Tasks – Knowledge of procurement logic, regulations, and internal processes for material, equipment, and service acquisition.
- Supplier Relationship Management – Build and maintain high-performing, aligned supplier partnerships.
- Strategic Sourcing – Continuously analyze and optimize procurement processes, supply chain risks, and supplier engagements.

Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or category management, preferably in engineering or manufacturing sectors.
- Expertise in ferrous and non-ferrous castings procurement (or experience with OEM or automotive manufacture supply chains).
- Global experience or understanding of cross-border procurement processes would be advantageous.
- Academic background in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
