Carlsberg Britvic is the largest multi-beverage supplier in the UK, operating iconic and popular beers (Carlsberg Danish Pilsner, 1664, Poretti, Brooklyn, Hobgoblin, Wainwright) and soft drinks (J2O, Robinsons, Tango, London Essence), alongside Pepsi MAX, 7UP, Lipton Ice Tea, and Rockstar Energy. With 5 production facilities and 15 logistics depots nationwide, we’re driving growth through a collaborative vision focused on people success.
About the Role
The Off-Trade team at Carlsberg Britvic is on track to generate £1.4 billion in net revenue by 2025. In your role as Category Executive, you’ll translate category strategies into action, driving growth in your core trade partners while collaborating with them to raise our customer credibility.
You’ll work alongside the Senior Category Manager to develop commercial execution in retail outlets, using market maps to optimize distribution, range, space, and sales rates. By leveraging deep insights into shopper behavior, you’ll deliver category growth that advances our customer partnerships—positioning Carlsberg Britvic as their trusted supplier.
Collaborating with Marketing, Category Strategy, Insights, Sales, and Commercial Operations, this role demands clear communication and a proactive approach.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Execution & Strategy for Growth
- Drive channel/customer progress by aligning today’s performance with future opportunities.
- Develop annual category strategies that support range & merchandising, ensuring applied roadmaps deliver maximum space, distribution, and promotional impact.
- Translate consumer trends, shopper behaviors, and market insights into competitive category strategies.
- Unlock growth advantages by focusing on key areas like range optimization, space allocation, and distribution reinforcement.

Customer Leadership & POC Outcomes
- Build strong customer relationships, acting as the lead voice for brand and address their demand gaps using data-driven insights.
- Maintain Carlsberg Britvic’s thought leadership presence, supporting the development of customer roadmaps for in-store growth.
- Foster continuous improvement through range reviews, enhancing availability, in-outlet space, and POS positioning.
- Develop category selling stories & tools and advance customer immersions that drive adoption of new strategies.
- Support certification projects, cross-category promotions, and trials (e.g. fixture design, category showcases), aligning with customer needs and retail trends.
Strategic Input on Topics
- Collaborate on critical topics like health & wellness, sustainability, Deposit Return Scheme (DRS), and HFSS (High Fat Salt Sugar legislation), offering category-focused solutions.
Collaboration & Culture
- Foster a thriving team culture centered on collaboration, high performance, and shared progress.
- Champion continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing across different areas.
- Develop and execute a personal development plan to advance your standing.
- Elevate category leadership by teaching it across teams and upskilling execution capability.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as an integrator with Insights, Category Strategy, Sales, and Brand/Channel Operations, delivering seamless, effective strategies.
- Support business cases for New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Developments (EPD) with thorough cost & opportunity assessments.
- Validate outcomes with market/insights data, monitoring performance against targets and ensuring learnings feed into future actions.

Performance Tracking & Analysis
- Develop and track performance metrics such as protocol-level range reviews and planogram adherence.
- Measure distribution, range, and space performance, translating findings into actionable insights for future initiatives.
- Optimize business planning through learning from market results and trends.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Submit expenses in a timely manner.
Key Performance Measures
✔ Volume & Value Growth (delivered via Annual Operating Plan) ✔ Market share growth (expected via distribution/space improvements) ✔ Enhanced categorization in the Advantage Group Survey ✔ Improved “perfect store” metrics ✔ Customer relationship satisfaction and engagement scores
Experience & Qualifications Required
Experience and Skills
- Proven exposure in FMCG, retail, or category/insights—direct customer interactions and experience of the category management process are a huge asset.
- Familiarity with space planning tools (e.g., JDA) and loyalty programs.
- Strong reputation for achieving measurable growth through commercial execution in action-oriented trade environments.
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent academic credential) in Business, Marketing, Economics, or an applicable discipline.
