The Insight team is at the heart of our business, helping us to understand our customers better in order to serve them better. As a Category Insight Manager you will play a pivotal role in helping the business make better, customer-led decisions which ultimately drive customer value through the delivery of compelling and actionable insights. You will impact across a wide range of stakeholders, ultimately supporting the growth of our customer base, increasing customer value and driving overall business performance.
What's the job?
- Stakeholder partnership: Support stakeholders in their use and interpretation of customer insight and ensuring customer is at the heart of planning and decision-making. Partner with B&Q teams to identify opportunities for insight intervention, designing and delivering compelling, evidence led, stories.
- Communicating with impact: Translate key insights into coherent and compelling stories. Identify opportunities for improvement and make sound recommendations that clearly and simply communicate findings and inspires action.
- Managing research activities: Develop and execute programme of insight activity to drive ROI and performance. Manage ad hoc insight projects (strategic and tactical) which help answer key business questions by confidently gathering, analysing, and interpreting first and third-party data, which may include commissioning of research projects.
- Supplier partnership: Manage suppliers through procurement and onboarding with an understanding of GDPR obligations. Build and nurture positive supplier relationships.
- Foresight: Identify and track consumer trends to facilitate long-term strategic planning. Keep abreast of consumer trends to anticipate future customer needs and integrate accordingly into deliverables and recommendations.
- Collaboration: Working with the wider Customer team, to contextualise, enhance and improve insight outputs

What we need:
- Experience of working and making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to synthesise, evaluate and analyse data to produce actionable insight.
- Experienced storyteller to drive engagement and action.
- Proven and significant experience of directly designing and executing market research programmes and studies.
- Interpretation of analytical outputs to answer business questions.
- Ability to contextualise insight and recommendations via understanding of market, consumer context and business/customer drivers and dynamics.
- Innate passion and curiosity for understanding and investigating customer behaviour and how this can improve business performance.
- Effective workload prioritisation and planning.
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills across functions and levels
