Severn Trent: A Truly Exciting and Inclusive Place to Work

Our people are what makes Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work. We’re a team of over 7,000 people, united by a shared purpose to deliver one of life’s essentials – water – while thriving in a unique and supportive culture.

We’re a growing, Midlands-based FTSE 100 organisation and we welcome people from all walks of life. We celebrate individuality, because we know that diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us learn, innovate, and better serve the customers and communities we represent.

It’s an exciting time to join us. As we enter our next five-year regulatory period (AMP8), we have ambitious plans to deliver bigger and better than ever before. If you’re looking for a challenging, rewarding career where you can make a genuine impact, Severn Trent is the place to be.

We’re Looking for a Category Manager

We’re looking for a Category Manager to join our Procurement & Contract Management team, leading the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) category. The role can be based at Severn Trent Centre or Raynesway.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Procurement and Contract Management Team is circa. 100 commercial, systems, and sustainability professionals based across the region. Operating across the whole commercial lifecycle, we ensure that every pound of customers’ money is spent wisely, responsibly, and transparently while protecting the organisation from risk and helping to achieve business objectives.

This is a high-impact Category Manager role with end-to-end ownership of strategy, supplier relationships, and catalogue management. You’ll drive cost savings, standardisation, and operational efficiency across a complex, high-volume spend, working closely with engineering and operations teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
