Role Overview

This role is responsible for managing product categories to maximise commercial performance through strategic planning, supplier management, and effective stock control. Working closely with multiple business functions, it focuses on ensuring product availability, improving inventory performance, and delivering value across cost, service, and operational efficiency.

Description

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and deliver category strategies that drive sales, margin growth, and commercial performance.
  • Lead supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and cost-saving initiatives across key product categories.
  • Manage inventory and stock planning to ensure optimal availability while minimising excess and obsolete stock.
  • Analyse market, sales, and forecasting data to support commercial and operational decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement across supply chain processes, supplier performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to achieve business objectives and support future growth opportunities.

Profile

The successful candidate would have:

  • Proven experience in category management, purchasing, or procurement, with strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Strong analytical capability with confidence using Excel and Office 365 to interpret data, forecasts, and commercial performance.
  • Understanding of stock management, inventory planning, and multi-site operational environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Commercially minded, strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and builds strong cross-functional relationships.
