Are you a data driven category marketer who translates data into insights, and produces unmatched creative storytelling presentations to both internal and external stakeholders? The role requires 1 day a week in their North Yorkshire offices. People tend to come as far as Manchester and the north West, as well as up in the North East. There is plenty of flex on offer with this amazing business!
Signature Career Management have exclusively partnered with a global blue-chip food company who are a household name in the frozen food category. With a history spanning well over 60 years, they are still going from strength to strength and have huge growth plans for the next 5 years. They are constantly adding exciting new products to their portfolio (with 4 new acquisitions over the last 3 years!) to build a diversified presence across multiple channels and categories. They are looking to bring on a Category Manager who is either an current Category Manager or a well experienced Category Executive. The main thing for them is that you are a conscientious, driven individual, with a growth mindset, who can be commercial and analytical at the same time. Having one without the other will not be enough for this role – you need to be able to analyse and interpret data, to then produce strong insights and effective story telling for both external retails as well as internal stakeholders. This role is adaptable based on your experience – there is potential for line management responsibilities!

Key responsibilities…
- Lead and develop first class category & consumer insights making clear recommendations to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Be the expert in understanding the brands consumer, the category consumer of the future and how the brand will continue to recruit them including recommendations on price and promotions.
- Lead the consumer research to land lots more category breaking innovation over the coming years.
- To work closely with the sales team to maximise the performance of priority ranges within customers to improve distribution and ensure delivery of the commercial plan.
- To continue acting as category captains, and to maintain the current phase of growth with an element of sensitivity to the wider market.
- To build relationships and trust with key customers to positively influence core category performance for mutual benefit. Customer engagement through Category Reviews, Range Reviews, New Product Presentations and customer specific work e.g. Promotional analysis, Total Frozen category recommendations.
- To be a category partner for a defined product area.

You will have…
- Experience in a Category Manager or Senior Category Manager capacity.
- Experience working with data sets like IRI, Kantar, Dunhumby, Retail Link or HIVE.
- The ability to develop relationships with internal and external customers.
- The ability to influence others, manage projects and turn insights into actions.
The successful applicant will have experience in performing in an FMCG Category or Sales role, dealing with major Grocery Retailers. Any experience of working with a wider breadth of customers will be advantageous. You must be a team player with a positive attitude and be an excellent relationship builder, confident in presentation skill. Clearly you will be highly numerical, a whizz with data with a curious mind capable of delivering compelling insights. Consumer Insights is also key here as the business has BIG growth plans and given their market position needs to build on this!
