Category Manager

Category Manager – Leeds (Wholesale & Retail)

MacGregor Black are seeking an experienced Category Manager to partner with a leading wholesale and retail business, delivering growth strategies across assigned food and beverage categories.

Are you a commercially minded Category Manager with a strong FMCG, Wholesale, or Foodservice background who thrives on driving sales, margin, and profitability?


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category strategies to enhance sales, margins, and profitability
  • Lead supplier relationship management, including Joint Business Planning (JBP) initiatives
  • Design and implement ranging, pricing, and promotion strategies for assigned categories
  • Negotiate supplier funding, marketing support, and commercial agreements
  • Analyse market trends, category performance, and customer data to uncover growth opportunities
  • Develop and refine own-brand strategies, optimising category portfolios
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure smooth category execution
  • Mentor and develop Category Assistants within the team

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience in Category Management, Buying, or Commercial roles within FMCG, Wholesale, or Foodservice
  • Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Track record of developing and delivering successful category strategies
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive commercial action
  • Outstanding stakeholder management and influencing capabilities
  • Commercially driven, results-focused approach
