Procurement Specialist – Technology & Broadcasting Suppliers
About the Role
Our Finance team is integral to the success of News UK, operating across multiple locations while functioning as a cohesive unit. This role focuses on procuring technology and broadcasting suppliers, with a primary emphasis on software and professional services.
You will work as a trusted advisor, collaborating with key business units—Technology, Editorial Digital Products, MarTech, and Broadcasting—to:
- Drive measurable cost savings
- Ensure diligent supplier management in a dynamic business environment
Your Responsibilities

Supplier Procurement
- Procure technology-based and broadcasting suppliers, prioritising software solutions and professional services
- Grow and expand the category range managed by the procurement department

Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with end business units, including Technology, Editorial Digital Products, MarTech, and Broadcasting
- Drive alignment with cross-functional teams and external partners

Cost Efficiency & Governance
- Deliver sustainable cost savings and avoidance
- Conduct thorough supplier due diligence while ensuring compliance with company policies
- Work across finance, legal, cyber security, and data protection teams to manage programs and costs

Reporting & Compliance
- Complete all governance documents and procurement activity reports
- Collaborate with affiliate and parent companies on global and cross-entity programs

Strategic Advisory
- Act as a trusted procurement advisor for designated category responsibilities
What We’re Looking For
- Specialist Procurement Expertise
- Deep knowledge of technology-based procurement, particularly software solutions and professional services
- Experience managing the full lifecycle of sourcing programs—spend analysis, tendering, and commercial negotiations across complex projects

Analytical & Commercial Strength
- Ability to conduct internal financial analysis, market benchmarking, and business case profiling to support spend review initiatives
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills to achieve optimal outcomes

- Knowledge of fundamental contract basics to ensure smooth supplier agreements
- Independent problem-solving and self-starter mentality
- Exceptional relationship management with both internal stakeholders and external partners
