Catering Assistant – Ballington House, Leek
About the Role
Are you passionate about food and eager to make a meaningful impact in a healthcare setting by supporting some of society’s most vulnerable people?
Join Ballington House, a service for women with complex Mental Health needs, where you’ll work 37.5 hours per week with an established catering team. Reporting directly to the Head Chef, you’ll assist with meal preparation, maintain kitchen hygiene, and support deliveries. The role also includes worthwhile social interactions across the service, ensuring a fulfilling and engaging workplace experience.

Key Responsibilities
As Catering Assistant, you will:
- Assist catering staff with meal preparation and cooking in line with company policies and procedures
- Serve service users, staff, and visitors with food and beverages
- Maintain storage procedures and ensure stock rotation
- Clean and store equipment, areas, and furniture properly
- Ensure operational hygiene standards, kitchen safety, and policy compliance
- Liaise with the dietitians regarding dietary needs and planned meals for service users

About the Service – Ballington House
A 13-bedded Mental Health rehabilitation hospital providing care for women with complex mental health issues. The setting comprises three phases:
- Assessment – High needs support
- Rehabilitation – Focus on confidence and independence-building
- Transition to Community – Equipping the service user for community living
Your work will contribute to patient recovery, giving them structured support as they progress through these stages.
The multi-disciplinary team includes:
- Consultant Psychiatrists & Clinical Psychologists
- Occupational Therapists
- Nurses, Support Workers

Salary & Benefits
Base Salary: £25,564.50 per year
