Catering Assistant
We are currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant to join our team at one of our independent schools in York YO24 4DD.
This is a part-time role working 15 hours per week, 11am to 2pm, Monday to Friday during term-time.
Wilson Vale is an established, quality-led contract caterer. We work with amazing clients across the UK who place huge value on great food as a key part of their culture and community. We work in office restaurants, independent schools and at conference venues with the same high-end ethos throughout.
We're looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our team, supporting the preparation and service of fresh, nutritious meals for up to 300 pupils, including up to 50 nursery children. You'll help deliver breakfast, lunch and an evening meal each day, ensuring food is presented to a high standard while providing a welcoming and efficient service.
The role also includes assisting with food preparation, maintaining excellent food hygiene standards, keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean and organised, and supporting the team with allergen awareness and safe food handling. Skills and Experience
- Have experience working in a similar role and environment
- Be highly organised and comfortable working in a high-pressured environment
- Ensure you have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
- Keep up standards of hygiene and ensure all areas are clean and tidy
- Have excellent customer service and social skills
- Be responsible for the preparation and serving of food to staff
- Have a can-do attitude and will work well as part of a team of 15
- Be customer-focused
- Have basic food knowledge
- Be willing to participate and enjoy working as part of the team
