Catering Assistant – Farmfield Hospital
Are you passionate about food and looking for a rewarding opportunity to work within a healthcare setting helping some of the most vulnerable people in society?
Join Farmfield Hospital, a service for men with potential forensic backgrounds and enduring mental health illnesses such as personality disorder, substance misuse issues, and challenging behaviours. You will be working 37.5 hours per week as part of an established and dedicated kitchen team.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head Chef, your responsibilities will include supporting the chefs to prepare meals, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and assisting with deliveries. This role has an exceptional social dimension, as you will have opportunities to interact regularly with people outside of the kitchen.

Responsibilities
As a Catering Assistant, you will:
- Assist catering staff with meal preparation and cooking, adhering to company policies and procedures
- Prepare meals for service users, staff, and external professional visitors, as necessary
- Maintain storage procedures and stock rotation
- Ensure proper cleaning and storage of areas, equipment, and furniture
- As part of the catering team, guarantee that the kitchen and associated areas meet hygiene standards, aligning with company policies
- Liaise with the wider team—including dietitians—to address dietary and planned meal requirements

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Relevant catering qualification (desirable)
- Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP
- Experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in basic numeracy and literacy
