Catering Assistant (Part-Time, Term-Time, Temporary Until 29/01/2027) Location: McLaren High School | Salary: £15,793 | Hours: 25/week | Closing Date: 16th July 2026
About the Role
A catering assistant role has become available at McLaren High School, with support provided via Keep & Better Food—a contract delivered by Stirling Council. The ideal candidate will ensure high standards in food preparation, service, and hygiene, while training will be provided to minimise prior experience requirements.
- Based at McLaren High School, but with flexibility to relocate as service needs evolve.
- Weekly hours: 25.
- Contract type: Part-Time, Term-Time, Temporary until 29 January 2027.
- Key duties:
- Responsible for food preparation, basic cooking, and service.
- Maintain kitchen hygiene, adhering to Food Safety and Health & Safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety Act, Health & Safety at Work Act, and associated legislation.
- Uphold high standards of food quality and presentation.

Training provided: All candidates will receive on-the-job training and essential off-the-job competencies.
Requirements
- Suitability for Working with Children – The successful applicant must become a registered member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) for Children. As part of the interview process, applicants will be invited to complete a verification check.
- Personality & commitment – Must be motivated, ** detail-orientated**, and take pride in maintaining clean, well-prepared, and safe food environments.
No formal catering experience required.
