About the Role

Join our friendly and supportive team as a Catering Assistant at Bicklerley Green Care Home for older adults.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meal Assistance: Serve residents their meals and provide support with eating and drinking, ensuring enjoyment of high-quality, nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs.
  • Food Preparation: Assist with food preparation, including managing special diets for individual residents.
  • Cleaning: Conduct scheduled cleaning of surfaces, floors, walls, and equipment to uphold kitchen hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Hygiene & Safety: Adhere strictly to food hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
  • Relationships: Deliver person-centred catering services and develop positive connections with residents.

However, we value specific skills, attitudes, and motivations to ensure high-quality support:

  • Knowledge: Either have a Level 2 Food Safety qualification (or equivalent) or be willing to complete it within 3 months of starting. Comfortable with kitchen hygiene.
  • Team Player: Effective communicator with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Able to use initiative, respond in emergencies, and seek help when needed.
  • Resilience: Work efficiently under pressure, adapt positively, and maintain calm under changing demands.

  • The role includes weekend and bank holiday work, with enhancements per Hampshire County Council (HCC) salary policy.
