Catering Assistant (Bank)

Description

If you’re passionate about care, innovation and excellence, then HMT could be the perfect place for the next step in your career. We have an exciting opportunity to join our Catering team at Sancta Maria Hospital, Swansea.

You will support the Catering Team in delivering a customer focused catering service throughout the hospital following agreed work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with the national standards for these services

This is a bank role. Bank vacancies are not contracted to fixed hours; instead, they allow workers to pick shifts that align with their availability. Our Bank workers enable HMT to manage fluctuating demand, such as covering staff absences, busy periods, or unexpected workload increases whilst offering you the flexibility to pick up shifts as available.

Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the ordering of patient’s meals and to maintain an effective communication with the kitchen and nursing staff with regards to patients’ dietary requirements.
  • To assist with meal service and all food and drink requirements for the patients on the ward.
  • Maintain & replenish stock in ward kitchen and all waiting areas and ensure that equipment is cleaned and well maintained.
  • Care and safe use of catering equipment.
  • To ensure all catering areas are cleaned in accordance with daily, weekly and monthly schedules
  • Ensure compliance with all legislation relating to food safety and management.
  • Disposal of waste in accordance with HMT waste policy.
  • To maintain a high standard of hygiene and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • To assist in providing a safe environment for the safety and welfare of patients and staff by being aware of: Health & Safety at work act, Fire prevention and management, Infection control, COSHH and HACCP.

Qualifications

  • Good communication and customer care skills
  • Have a good understanding of the English language both written and spoken.
  • Presentable and approachable and flexible to changes in routine or work environment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative following policies and procedures, and able to take and follow instructions to react to changing circumstances.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Food Hygiene Qualifications
