Catering Assistant – Holme Community Primary School
£13.45 per hour | Part time | 10 hrs per week (Term time only) | Permanent, Variable hours
Location: Holme Community Primary School, Carnforth, Cumbria
Lancashire County Council provides catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire, serving over 60,000 school meals daily. We seek committed individuals to join the team and deliver high-quality, healthy, and balanced meals to our pupils.
About the Role
As a Catering Assistant, you will:
- Work as part of a friendly team at Holme Community Primary School
- Ensure the dining area is prepared for mealtimes, including furniture arrangement and restocking
- Assist in cooking and serving meals and beverages under close supervision
- Maintain cleanliness in all equipment and catering areas

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the dining area for school meals, including setup and tidying
- Assist with food preparation, cooking, and serving under UCS oversight
- High standards of equipment and area cleaning
Person Specification
Skills & Attributes
- Ability to · work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to · manage workload under pressure and take initiative
- Strong · customer service and communication skills
- Previous catering or food preparation experience is desirable (not essential)
- Willingness to · undergo training to cover shifts if needed
Working Details
- Hours: Fixed 10 hours per week (term-time only), subject to varying demand
- Days: Monday to Friday
- Contract: Permanent but variable hours
