Catering Assistant I Schools Catering I Kirkham Pear Tree School

Salary: £13.45 per hour (Fixed term until 30/09/2026) Hours/Vacancy Type: Variable, part-time (7.5 hours/week), term-time only Location: Kirkham Pear Tree School


About the Role

Lancashire County Council provides catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire, serving over 60,000 school meals daily. We are seeking committed individuals to join the team in a fixed-term contract at Pear Tree Special School.

Your role involves:

  • Preparing the dining area for service:

    • Moving and setting up furniture.
    • Putting away equipment.
  • Assisting in:

    • Preparation, cooking, and serving food and beverages.
  • Cleaning all equipment and catering areas.

Requirements

  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to operate under pressure and think independently.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Essential: Prior experience in catering and food preparation.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Working Arrangements

  • Days: Monday–Friday (term-time only).
  • Hours: 7.5 per week.
    • 1.5 hours per day (11:45 AM–1:15 PM).
  • Policy: 4 additional cleaning days/year (beyond contracted hours).
  • Contract Duration: Fixed term until 30 September 2026.
