Catering Assistant (Fixed Term Maternity Cover) – Padiham Primary School
Salary & Details
- £13.45 per hour
- Fixed term contract until 21/07/2027
- Part-time (10-11.25 hrs per week, term time only, variable dependent on meal uptake)
- Monday to Friday (term time only)

About the Role
Padiham Primary School is covered by Lancashire County Council, which provides catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire. With 60,000+ school meals served daily, the team is seeking committed individuals to support the school’s catering needs during maternity leave cover.
As a Catering Assistant, you will collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure all children receive high-quality, healthy, and balanced meals.

Key Responsibilities

Set-up & Maintenance
- Prepare the dining area for service, including furniture arrangement
- Clean and return utensils & catering equipment after use

Food & Service Support
- Assist in food preparation, cooking, and serving
- Ensure a smooth service for children and staff
Requirements
- Essential:
- Previous catering and food preparation experience (mandatory)
- Desirable:
- Ability to work under pressure and take initiative
- Strong customer care and teamwork skills
Working Details
- Hours & Days:
- 11.25 hours per week (term time only, Monday–Friday)
- Hours may vary depending on school meal uptake
- Contract Duration: Fixed term until 21st July 2027 (covering maternity leave)
