We have a rare opportunity for you to join our inspirational catering team here at “the Christie” as a Catering Assistant within our Kitchen Team. Encouraging healthier lifestyles, our Chefs are skilled in the art of transforming fresh, seasonal ingredients into nutritious home-cooked meals that place our patients, families, and colleagues “At the heart of what we do” and you will help them deliver this great food, to our patients. Do you have what it takes to keep our kitchens safe and provide excellent customer service, with a smile in a fast-paced environment?
What Will You Be Doing
- Serving meals to patients at ward level.
- Ensuring all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety policies and allergen control procedures are followed.
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen and dining area during and after services.
- Ensuring all catering equipment is cleaned and ready for use.
- Providing excellent customer service to patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ensuring NHS Food Standards are adhered to.
- Replenishing stocks and supplies in the kitchen and dining area as directed.

Qualifications And Skills
- Should ideally hold Food Hygiene Certificate L2 but not essential as training will be provided.
- Experience in catering, kitchen, or a food service industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

- Band 2: £25,272 - (£12.92ph) – pro rata
- Full Time: 37.5 Hours per week - (5 days out of 7) to include Bank Holidays, evenings and weekends
- Shift Patterns within the hours of: 07:00 – 19:00.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.
