Catering & Hospitality Supervisor

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Catering & Hospitality Supervisor. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee the day-to-day operation of the Planet Café and First Light Pavilion Café, together with event hospitality at the Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement, within a dynamic and inclusive environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • A strong food and beverage offer: Help deliver a high-quality café and event service in a welcoming setting.
  • An effective team: Supervise and motivate team members during shifts to ensure service standards and operational procedures are consistently met.
  • Operational excellence: Support implementing best practice, health and safety compliance, staff development, and monitoring of effective stock and financial processes.
  • Collaborative delivery: Work with colleagues to ensure smooth event hospitality and effective promotion of services.

About You

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria:

  • A recognised QCF Level 2 qualification in hospitality, business or a related field, or equivalent professional qualifications
  • Good understanding of food safety, allergen management and safe working practices, including manual handling.
  • Experience of working in a supervisory role within a catering environment, preferably working within a similar visitor attraction or other cultural venue
  • Understanding of hospitality administration, financial processes, stock control and budget management.
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 (or willingness to complete immediately).

PLEASE NOTE

  • Jodrell Bank does not open on Mondays (except for School Holidays), and therefore working hours are generally between Tuesday and Sunday.
  • The normal hours for this role are 28 hours per week, worked across a 7-day operation including weekends, bank holidays and occasional evening events.
  • Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement is rurally located, 20 miles south of Manchester, and applicants will need their own means of transportation in order to travel to and from work.
