Catering Manager

Contract: Government
Location: London, SW1A 2DY
Hours of work: 40 (Monday - Friday)
Contract Type: Permanent

We are seeking a Catering Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the catering department, ensuring food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard.

This role will oversee ordering, stock control, menu planning, and the smooth delivery of all catering operations.

Job Description

We are looking for a driven individual who can lead a team effectively while maintaining compliance with Health & Safety and Food Safety standards.

You will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, supporting operational improvements, and upholding company brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the catering department, including food preparation, presentation, ordering, stock control, and menu planning.
  • Lead, support, and motivate a team of Food Service Supervisors, Assistants, and agency staff to deliver a professional and efficient service.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Health & Safety and Food Safety legislation and company standards.
  • Drive operational initiatives and support brand promotional activities to enhance customer experience.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Monitor and manage food waste using contract tools/software, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Support supervisors in managing labour and rotas in line with productivity models, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee, support, and guide the Head Chef in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

  • Proven experience in food service, catering, or hospitality.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and Food Safety requirements.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining and improving high standards of service and presentation.
  • Proactive approach to personal development and continuous improvement.
  • IT literate.
