If you're a specialist who knows that a few degrees can make a world of difference, we want to hear from you. We are looking for a dedicated Catering Refrigeration Engineer to join the CBRE team. In this role, you'll be the technical expert ensuring that vital cold-storage and kitchen systems remain operational, efficient, and safe. You won't just be maintaining hardware; you'll be protecting our clients' inventory and ensuring their operations never skip a beat.
What you'll do
- Take total ownership of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, working independently to keep critical cooling systems and kitchen services running at peak performance.
- Act as the first line of defence for emergency repairs, diagnosing faults and restoring service rapidly to meet demanding service level agreements.
- Prioritise safety above all else by conducting personal risk assessments, managing the permit-to-work system, and ensuring every repair meets current QHSE regulations.
- Close out help desk requests and work orders with precision, ensuring all digital documentation and service reports are completed promptly.
- Bridge the gap between the plant room and the front office by building trusting, professional relationships with Facilities Managers and kitchen staff.
- Supervise and support third-party subcontractors on-site, ensuring their work aligns with our high quality and safety standards.
- Manage the "fix" from start to finish, which includes identifying required parts and coordinating with technical administration for procurement.
- Stay ahead of the curve by spotting potential equipment failures early and escalating urgent technical issues to Engineering Leaders before they become disasters.
- Contribute your own ideas and initiatives to help us innovate, improve energy efficiency, and deliver a world-class service to our clients.
- Lend your expertise to installation projects and other technical tasks as needed to support the wider engineering team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
