Catering Supervisor – Looe, Cornwall
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Catering Supervisor to lead our kitchen operations, ensuring our residents receive nutritious meals in a warm, welcoming environment.

In this role, you’ll oversee a small but dynamic kitchen team, manage stock and budgets efficiently, and prioritise both culinary excellence and resident well-being.

Pay Scale
- Standard rate: £13.50/hour
- Weekend rate: £16.88/hour
- Bank holiday rate: £27.00/hour
Job Purpose
In this role, you will ensure all meals are prepared and served to a high standard, tailored to individual dietary needs—while leading a team that fosters resident satisfaction and overall well-being. Key aspects include maintaining hygiene standards, coordinating with the wider care team, and supporting special events.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth, efficient service.
- Maintain compliance with Safer Food, Better Business standards.

Meals Preparation & Hygiene
- Assist in preparing and serving both hot and cold meals, using pre-planned menus.
- Ensure meals meet dietary requirements, nutrition standards, and presentation goals.

Collaboration & Events Support
- Work with the care team and Wellbeing Coordinator to plan menu for celebrations, fetes, and open days.
- Actively contribute to creating positive experiences through great food.

Records & Compliance
- Complete regular logs (food temperatures, fridge/freezer checks, deliveries, and waste records).
- Document all inventories in line with CQC and Food Safety guidelines.

Stock & Budget Management
- Order and rotate stock efficiently, avoiding waste while ensuring availability.
- Perform regular audits and inventory checks.
- Control food budgets and ensure value-for-money catering.

What We’re Looking For
- A kind, compassionate person with a genuine passion for food and care.
- Previous kitchen or catering experience (experience in a care home setting would be beneficial).
- A highly organised and reliable team leader with the confidence to manage a small team.
- Excellent communication skills and a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage kitchen reports, audits, and stock duties effectively.
Ideal Qualifications
- Basic understanding of dietary needs, food safety, and allergy awareness.
- NVQ/Qualification in Catering preferred but not mandatory (willingness to train encouraged).
- Hold or willing to obtain Food Hygiene Level 2 Certification.
