Catering Supervisor – Foulford Primary School
Proposed Interview Date: Week Commencing 27 July 2026 Closing Date: Sunday 19 July 2026 Contract Type: Permanent Salary: FC4 £26,786.83 to £29,170.80 (pro rata) Working Pattern: 30 hours per week, 38 weeks per year Term: Monday to Friday (term-time only) Location: Foulford Primary School
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Catering Supervisor to oversee kitchen operations at Foulford Primary School. The role involves:
- Managing all kitchen-based activities, including preparation, cooking, organisation, and supervision of food service
- Supervising kitchen staff
- Ensuring compliance with HACCP procedures and managing related paperwork
- Supporting dietary and nutritional needs (including special diets if required)
- Handling transport and service of meals, as well as general kitchen and dining room duties (e.g., washing up, cleaning, table setup)
This is a Permanent position with a term-time contract, offering competitive pay and benefits.
Salary & Working Conditions
- Starting hourly rate: £14.27/hour
- Additional payments: For shift work, including weekends
- Pay structure: Annualised (equal instalments every 4-week pay period)
- Salary band: £26,786.83 – £29,170.80 (pro rata)
- Hours: 30 hours/week, Monday – Friday (term-time only)

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen and food service operations
- Supervise catering staff and ensure high standards of hygiene, safety, and presentation
- Complete necessary HACCP compliance paperwork
- Accommodate dietary requirements (e.g., allergies, religious diets)
- Respond to nutritional considerations as needed by school food policy
- Maintain a clean and well-organised kitchen and dining area
- Support teamwork to provide efficient and effective meal services
Requirements
- Essential:
- Proven catering experience (or relevant qualifications such as SVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
- Ability to follow HACCP/health and safety guidelines
- Commitment to providing a consistent service, working independently or collaboratively
- Preference for working towards an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
- Pre-employment checks:
- Successful completion of PVG Scheme membership (through Disclosure Scotland)
About You
We’re looking for someone with practical experience in school or commercial catering and a customer-centred approach. A willingness to adapt and a strong attitude towards teamwork are essential.
