About the Role
A vacancy has opened for a Catering Supervisor who is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high standards of food preparation and service.
This role requires:
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience
- Proven cooking and presentation skills in a professional kitchen
- Compliance knowledge of Food Safety Act, Health & Safety at Work Act, and relevant legislation
- Meticulous adherence to food safety regulations (REHIS Intermediate Food Hygiene is desirable, while Elementary Food Hygiene is essential)
- Accountability for all food production activities and operational systems in the kitchen
The food service must meet the high standards expected by customers—including pupils, staff, and stakeholders—a core focus of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring food safety, hygiene, and quality compliance
- Maintain cleanliness, storage, and handling procedures in line with legal requirements
- Supervise staff, including food preparation team members, and ensure shifting prioritises operational efficiency
- Raise concerns or food safety incidents promptly in accordance with local authority policies
- Foster a positive and collaborative environment in the school setting
- Assist in menu planning (where applicable) and adapt to dietary restrictions and preferences

Person Specification
Desirable
✔ REHIS Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent) ✔ Experience in a continuously fast-paced environment (e.g., schools, healthcare, or hospitality) ✔ Sector-specific voluntary/community experience would be an advantage
Essential
🔹 Minimum 3 years’ experience in supervisory roles within hospitality, schools, or food service sectors 🔹 Professional-level food hygiene training (Elementary Food Hygienecertificate or equivalent) 🔹 Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail 🔹 Ability to work autonomously and under pressure while adhering to safeguarding protocols 🔹 Commitment to inclusive practices in all aspects of the job
Additional Requirements
The successful application will require:
- Registration under the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme for Children, verified prior to offer stages
- Ability to commit to term-time (39–40 weeks per year)
