CBE/Engineering Lecturer

CBE/Engineering Lecturer – Temporary & Permanent Roles

About the Role

We are recruiting CBE/Engineering Lecturers with expertise across engineering disciplines—including construction, electrical/electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or design—who bring practical industry experience to our teaching and curriculum development.

As part of our mission to deliver high-quality, industry-aligned education, you will:

  • Teach and assess students at Levels 1–5, including evening provision
  • Create inclusive, engaging learning environments that integrate professional knowledge
  • Foster expertise in both practical and theoretical subjects
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous teaching improvement
  • Support the next generation of engineers and built environment professionals

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Student Support

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons for students of Diverse Educational Needs while complying with Student Support Policies
  • Establish a motivating, safe learning environment with clear behavioural expectations and anti-discrimination measures
  • Mark assessments, track student progress, and adhere to College assessment policies
  • Provide a balance of practical and theoretical instruction aligned with industry standards

Curriculum & Professional Practice

  • Engage in annual curriculum reviews and remain informed of national and sector developments
  • Collaborate with curriculum leaders on programme design, ensuring high standards
  • Support students with additional English and Maths requirements alongside core subjects
  • Design enrichment activities that enhance student experience

Professional & Administrative Duties

  • Maintain confidentiality in safeguarding, GDPR, and College policies
  • Serve as an College ambassador by supporting events like enrolment periods
  • Participate in continuous professional development
  • Engage with parents/carers during Parent’s Evenings and Open Days

Compliance & Wellbeing

  • Uphold all regulatory standards, including health and safety and safeguarding
  • Perform any additional duties as needed by the College

Skills & Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in relevant engineering/construction subject or equivalent professional qualification
  • Vocational experience in Civil or Construction Engineering
  • Demonstrated teaching and assessment experience within professional construction courses
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd) or commitment to attaining one
  • Strong curriculum planning and delivery experience within construction/technical education
  • Excellent digital literacy and numeracy/literacy to Level 3 (or willingness to complete)
  • Proven data management, analysis, and record-keeping skills

Desirable

  • Experience with resource-based learning (WBL/HOLLIS)
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g., ICE, CIOB)
  • Familiarity with assessment strategies targeting individual student needs (Technological Enhanced Learning)
  • Understanding of quality assurance frameworks and employer training alignment
  • Experience managing safeguarding risk assessments
