Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled, experienced, and enthusiastic CBT Therapist to join EPUT’s perinatal psychological services for mothers, birthing people, and their infants. The Perinatal Mental Health Service (PMHS) provides high-quality maternal mental health and wellbeing support and intervention to mothers, birthing people, and their infants across Essex.

PMHS are pleased to offer an 1-year Fixed Term contract for a 0.6wte 8a CBT Therapist post. PMHS consists of five perinatal hubs across Essex, with a staff mix comprising Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology, and specialist roles such as nursery nursing, social work, and OT. PMHS works with a range of services to support a mother’s emotional wellbeing, including maternity and health visiting, primary and secondary care mental health services. PMHS aims to provide streamlined, timely, and effective care for mothers and birthing people in the perinatal period. This post will be in Mid Locality (Chelmsford, Braintree, and Maldon).

Pregnancy and the transition to parenthood are recognized as a time when mental health difficulties and relationship stress can occur. Experience of preexisting trauma as well as trauma during the perinatal period can have a significant impact on the experience of becoming a parent. Psychological interventions which are specific, effective, and valued by women can support them with such difficulties.

Main duties of the job

Perinatal Psychology is a flourishing and exciting field to work in. We would welcome those who have an interest and are looking to develop their skills in perinatal approaches. There will be significant opportunities to develop your specialist CBT skills and experience as well as consultation skills. Staff wellbeing is also highly valued, and we are looking for candidates with experience of wellbeing initiatives to support the PMHS staff as they manage highly challenging caseloads with complex risk and safeguarding issues.

You will be expected to contribute to the development of Perinatal Psychology both within the trust and externally through attendance at CPD and network events. Participation in research and audit will be encouraged. You will be encouraged to develop a specialist clinical interest, and continued professional development is strongly supported.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
