About the Role
The Senior Relationship Manager is a strategic banker who:
- Closely follows digital transformation trends and emerging Technology/FinTech sector developments.
- Translates innovations into client-focused dialogue while deepening understanding of the competitive landscape.
- Expertly assesses financial performance, capital structuring, and debt markets to navigate client complex needs.
This role entails owning wallets globally, leading complex deals, driving credit committees, and delivering a competitive edge through NBS positioning. The ideal candidate excels in multi-product, multi-national client relationships, Revenue Growth responsibility, and outstanding financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage high-value client relationships, including-originating new-to-bank businesses.
- Be the expert voice for clients, providing holistic treasury and business strategy solutions.
- Represent Citi as a leader in digital marketplace innovation and thought partnership.
- Ensures Citi’s institutional process and credit governance compliance in all engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Client Portfolio & New Business Development
- Self-originate multi-product/multi-country clients for CCB UK and manage relationships proactively.
- Actively engage existing clients, anticipating needs, risks, and challenges.
- Identify and secure high-value potential clients aligned with Citi’s value proposition.

Deal Execution
- Structure complex deals requiring collaboration across product-led teams.
- Align finance solutions with client’s long-term risk and reward trade-offs.
Credit & Compliance
- Oversee full-credit process from client-level decisioning to implementation.
- Consistently apply Citi policies, risk frameworks, and institutional processes.
Financial & Operational Accountability
- Responsible for reporting, planning, and revenue projections at the client level.
- Ensure global ROI through transaction capture and enhanced client loyalty.
Leadership & Development
- Mentor Analysts, Associates, and Junior Bankers within the team.
- Drive execution excellence while promoting innovation in digital banking.
Reputation & Compliance (& “Be the Best” Ethics)
- Fashion sound risk analysis balanced with Citi’s return thresholds and client trust.
- Unquestioned adherence to Compliance, Risk, and AML policies.
- Certified Role under Individual Accountability Regime (FCA/PRA-Aligned).
- Assessment includes integrity, financial soundness, competence, and ethical conduct.
- Background checks, references, and annual declarations post-hire.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential Experience:
- Ten + years of experience in Commercial/Corporate Banking.
- Demonstrated expertise in credit risk and structured deal formation.
- Specialisation in high-growth sectors, particularly Technology/FinTech.
- Experience in all stages of credit decisioning (underwriting, approval, scouting).
- Advanced grasp of capital markets and debt financing mechanisms.

- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to lead multi-functional teams for superior client experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, and mitigate risks.
Technology Savvy & Digital Drive:
- Thirst to adopt digital innovation and align with client digital transformation needs.
- Capable of leveraging data insights to adjust strategies dynamically.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
- Advanced analytics (i.e. Master’s/MBA) strongly preferred for quantification candidates.
