About the Role
Citi Commercial Bank UK’s Digital, Technology and Communication team serves UK-headquartered Emerging High Growth and Mid-Market companies with a global footprint.
The Senior Relationship Manager is a strategic professional tasked with:
- Keeping abreast of the latest Technology and FinTech sector trends and applying them to refine client engagements.
- Building a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, financial performance, and debt capitalisation needs of clients.
- Leading the credit underwriting process and advocating for Citi when securing lead capital markets roles.
- Applying expert negotiation, collaboration, and client advisory skills to drive wallet share and return outcomes.
- Leveraging a holistic grasp of Citi’s product suite to securely capture business while positioning against competitors.
This position requires a highly experienced banker with a strong emphasis on new business development, reporting, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities

Client Acquisition & Management
- Self-originate new, multi-brand, cross-country clients for CCB UK, nurturing and evolving these relationships long-term.
- Deepen existing client connections through proactive outreach, anticipating needs, and mitigating risks.
- Drive product diversification and geographic expansion in client engagements to realise added revenue.

Competitive Strategic & Executive Leadership
- Leverage industry trend analysis to position Citi as a market leader in client advisory and treasury solutions.
- Partner with product specialists and subject-matter experts to develop innovative, tailored client solutions.
- Smith and close complex deals while aligning them to risk-reward strategy, demonstrating proven deal execution experience.

Credit & Compliance Governance
- Oversee the credit life-cycle, ensuring full adherence to Citi’s policies and risk controls.
- Collaborate with risk and credit committees, striving for transparent risk discussions and alignment.
- Ensure compliance across all client transactions, both regulatory and internal policy lines.

Client Success & Financial Optimisation
- “Be the Best” by understanding the strategic financial agenda of clients, including treasury, FX, and capital markets.
- Take ownership of client-level budgeting, planning, and revenue outcomes.

Internal Mentorship & Execution Support
- Guide Analysts, Associates, and Junior Bankers in client engagements and deal processes.
- Elevate visibility via team accountability and client-facing thought leadership.
Requirements
Experience & Knowledge
- Proven senior-level commercial/corporate banking expertise, with 10+ years of success in client servicing or relationship management.
- Deep expertise in credit underwriting, including forecasting and internal/Government-backed product evaluation.
- Hands-on ability to fast-adapt and evaluate new product expansion or counterparty creditworthiness.
- Proven track record in negotiating and structuring deals that secure win-win outcomes.
- Exceptional understanding of Citi’s capital markets, lending, and FX solutions.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree (any field); Master’s degree a strong plus in Finance, Risk Management, or Economics.
Certification Regime Note
This role is a certified function under UK law. Successful candidates undergo FCA/PRA compliance checks, including:
- Financial solvency.
- Polarity assessment (disruptive conduct history).
- Criminal screening and credit reports.
- Annual fitness-and-propriety renewals.
