Role Title: Ceded Reinsurance Junior Analyst

BU/Segment: Analytics / Data / Insurance Location: London, United Kingdom (3 days a week office-based) Employment Type: Permanent Experience: 3 years minimum


About the Role

We are seeking a Ceded Reinsurance Junior Analyst with around 3 years of experience to support the design, placement, and administration of ceded reinsurance programmes. Successful candidates will collaborate closely with Placement Officers, Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Legal, Operations, Brokers, and Reinsurers, contributing to portfolio optimisation, risk management, and successful reinsurance renewals.

Ideal candidates have strong analytical, technical, and organisational skills, coupled with a desire to develop expertise in the reinsurance market.


Responsibilities

  • Analytical Support: Provide insights and recommendations based on manipulation and interpretation of large datasets.
  • Contract & Market Knowledge: Develop understanding of reinsurance contract structures, market trends, and placement processes.
  • Collaboration: Engage effectively with internal (e.g., Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims) and external stakeholders, including brokers and reinsurers.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare submission packs, renewal documentation, and management information (MI).
  • Process & Tech:
    • Maintain and update reinsurance data systems of record.
    • Support automation and technology-driven initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Communication: Clearly articulate findings and recommendations—both verbally and in writing.
  • Delivery & Accountability: Ensure high accuracy, reliability, and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-maced environment.

Requirements

Essential

  • Up to 3 years’ experience in reinsurance, insurance, or the London Market, ideally with exposure to ceded reinsurance (treaty or facultative).
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, proficient in:
    • Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel – including PivotTables, Power Query, and analysis.
    • Reporting/data visualisation tools like Power BI or Tableau (desirable).
  • Knowledge of reinsurance concepts, contract structures, and policy wordings.
  • Experience preparing submission packs, renewal documents, and management information (MI).
  • Familiarity with maintaining reinsurance data and systems of record.
  • Exposure to working with brokers, underwriters, Actuarial/Claims/Operations/Analytics teams.
  • Participation in process improvement, automation, or technology projects.
  • Progress towards a relevant insurance or risk management qualification (e.g., CII, MSc Risk) (desirable).
